f it concerns the organization of a tennis event, you have come to the right place at Sidney de Boer’s Academy. This year not only a tennis tournament was played, but a tennis clinic was also organized in true Wimbledon vintage style. Complete with wooden and other exotic rackets, white balls, white clothing (sponsored by Björn Borg), strawberries and trainers in long pants, suspenders and beautiful English caps, but above all with lots of fun! The only thing that was missing was the grass, because again this year the venue was ‘PARK Tennis’ on the Bankrasweg in Amstelveen, and there are no grass but clay courts. But we really haven’t heard anyone complain about that. There was nothing to complain about because the participants and spectators were once again wonderfully pampered thanks to the perfect organization and the various sponsors (Bjorn Borg Tenniskleding, San Pellegrino Nederland, Vitaminwell, Ferilliscaffe, Zero Zero Store and Chandon).
As usual, the tennis tournament had room for participants of all playing strengths, whether you have an 8 or 7 on your card or have an ATP ranking, everyone could participate. For example, we saw a double final in the 7 and a single final at the highest level between Scott Griekspoor and Mats Bredschneijder, which was won by Mats.
