Dusan Lajovic from Serbia and Attila Balazs form Hungaria wil play the final in Umag. Atttila Balazs entered the main tournament via de qualifications. His way to the final is quite impressive. There was a change that his opponent was a qualifier too. The Italian Salvatore Caruso showed this week in Umag that he knows very well how to play on clay. He outed among others seeded number two Borna Coric in front of ‘his’ home crowd. Although, Umag is very close to Italy and there always a lot of Italians fans in the Goran Ivanisevic stadium as well. So the crowd was not entirely on the hand of Coric. Now the Italians fans must be very disappointed, because their hero Caruso is out of the tournament.
Salvatore started his match very well by taking the lead with a break ahead against Dusan Lejovic. The Serbian, however managed to break back and broke the Italian at the end of the first set. Caruso had at that time already received a medical time out. Unfortunately he had to retire a little bit later at the beginning of the first game of the second set.
