Slovak fans do what fans are for: they support! They support in a very loud way that brings to every match a Slovak tennis player is playing a Fed/Davis-cup atmosphere. We have witnessed this several times in Katowice ( Poland) not far from the Slovak border during the WTA tournament. When Dominika Cibulkova entered the court her nowadays husband Miso Navara was the leader of the fans shooting his beloved wife to the victory. In Umag the Slovak fans had a glorious day seeing Andrej Martin defeating the Argentine Carlos Berlocq, who was not able to yell himself into the finals. Later it was compatriot Martin Klizan who won the doubles title with his Spanish teammate David Marrero. They defeated the Croatian boys Nikola M and Antonio Sancic (6-4, 6-2).
The Croatian tennis players of course were very disappointed not being able to win the title in front of the home crowd. One of the pictures below illustrates clearly the difference between the state of mind of the winners and of the losers of a final.
The flamboyant tennis player Martin Klizan has not only fans in Slovakia. An Italian fellow photographer asked me to make a picture of him and Klizan, and of course Klizan was willing to make the picture. He always is very grateful to his fans and took all the time to celebrate his victory with his fans. He even took off his shirt, signed it and gave it away.
