Once again the Russian ladies Valentyna Ivakhnenko and Marina Melnikova had to play a deciding tie-break. This time against the Japanes ladies Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato. Today they actually could have finished the match in their favor in the second set, which was not the case in their forgoing matches (see the story about that by clicking her). Although obviously nervous, they won the first set by 6-3 and were a break ahead in the second one. Yet the Japanese girls broke back and won the second set and the tiebreak (10-8). It was the second time the Russian girls were playing together. They won their first tournament, but that was in the ITF circuit. Here in Katowice, they play together for the second time and they were close to a win in the WTA-tour, but it was not to be. The Japanese ladies were the most cool and won the tournament. Later on we will publish more pictures.
