Gilles Simon was seeded number 5 but he only won one set against the Italian Marco Cecchinato (6-1; 3-6; 6-1). Kenny de Schepper was in the winning mood, especially  after his spectacular win on Franko Skugor. He stunted against the number 7 seeded compatriot Benoit Paire and showed his ‘never-giving-up-mentality’ once again. Paire won the second set, but Kenny was able to break the long Frenchman in the third set (2-6; 6-4; 3-6). The Croatian Ivan Dodig, who received a wildcard, kept the Croation spirits high by defeating Maurius Copil from Romania (6-4; 7-6(4)).
