Last sunday Agnieszka Radwanska was in Katowice. Not to play tennis but to tell the press that she had to withdraw from the tournament due to a right shoulder injury. After the single tournament also lost the Polish Paula Kania, now Magda Linette is the hope of the Polish audience. She is playing well and won her first round match against Anastasiya Shoshyna who received a wild card to enter the tournament. Supported by the public she managed also to win her next match by defeating the Swiss Stefanie Voegele. The support form the Spodek public was more than welcome because she lost the first set by 6 to 1. But there was a wonderful and joyful resurrection of the Polish tennis player. By hard working she won the second set by 7-5. In the third set the Swiss resistance seemed to be broken and the crowd, as well as Magda herself, screamed her to a 6-2 victory. In the quarter finals she will meat de French Pauline Parmentier who defeated the British Naomi Broady by 6-4 and 7-5.
