Gonzalez down, but not K.O.
Paul Haarhuis and Fernando Gonzalez had the honour to open the AFAS Tennis Classics with an exciting and close match. Haarhuis, still moving fast on court, put up a nice fight against ‘mister stone-hand’ from Chile himself. In the end this match had to be decided with a third tie-break set after a score of 6-7, 7-6. It was Gonzalez with his impressive forehand who managed to win this tie-break with 10-8. So unfortunately for Haarhuis he lost; and he hates losing. Still, he can be satisfied with his performance in Apeldoorn. Being 14 years older than his oponent (who was still active on the ATP Tour in 2012) we can expect some more impressive tennis from our compatriot in Apeldoorn.
