Dominika Cibulkova and Carina Witthoeft played an incredible match. Most of the time both players were hard-hitting from the baseline making their opponent running from the left to the right of the court. However, Dominika played also several successful drop shots and started on a certain moment to play some high topspin balls close to the baseline. After the exhausting match in the evening, Dominika Cibulkova was kind enough to give tennisphotoworld an interview – which we will publish later – and she explained that she wanted to try to do something else to break the rhythm of Carina. More than three hours the ladies were on the court. The first service of both players faltered resulting in not less then six breaks in the first set, five in the second and two in third. The fighting spirit of both Dominika and Carina is enormous. Cibulkova managed five times to re-break immediately after being broken herself. Only in the third set Carina didn’t lose her service after breaking Dominika in the the second game. The Slovak lady was 0-3 and 1-4 behind, but she broke the German after saving her own service and bringing the score to 2-4. Like the first set the third ended in a tie-break. The first one was won by Carina Witthoeft (8-6), but the second one was a prey for Dominika Cibulkova (7-3). Given their passion and their will to win, a draw wouldn’t be an unreasonable outcome of the match. Unfortunately for Carina Witthoeft in tennis there’ s no draw, but the winner takes it all. And the winner was In this case the sympathetic Slovak Dominika Cibulkova.
